“그건 그저 수정일 뿐이고, 땅속에는 그런 수정이 수백만 개나 널려 있으니까.”
But those who know about such things would know that those are Urim and Thummim.
“하지만 가치를 아는 사람이라면 그것들이 우림과 툼밈이라는 사실을 단번에 알아보겠지.”
I didn’t know that they had them in this part of the world.”
“세상의 이쪽 지역에도 이런 게 있을 줄은 몰랐구나.”

“어떤 왕께서 제게 선물로 주신 거예요.” 소년이 말했다.

이방인은 대답 대신 주머니에 손을 넣더니 소년의 것과 똑같은 보석 두 개를 꺼내 보였다.
“Did you say a king?” he asked. “I guess you don’t believe that a king would talk to someone like me, a shepherd,”
“방금 왕이라고 했니?” 그가 물었다. “왕이 저 같은 양치기에게 말을 걸었다는 사실을 믿지 않으시겠죠.”
he said, wanting to end the conversation. “Not at all. It was shepherds who were the first to recognize a king
소년은 대화를 끝내고 싶어 하며 덧붙였다. “전혀 그렇지 않아. 세상 사람들이 인정하려 들지 않았던 왕을 가장 먼저 알아본 건 바로 양치기들이었으니까.”

우림(Urim)과 툼밈(Thummim)은 구약성경에 실제로 기록된 성물입니다. 이스라엘의 대제사장이 판결을 내릴 때 하나님의 뜻을 묻는 용도로 사용했다고 전해집니다.
