When the simum ceased to blow, everyone looked to the place where the boy had been.

But he was no longer there; he was standing next to a sand-covered sentinel, on the far side of the camp.
하지만 소년은 그곳에 없었다. 그는 진영 반대편 끝, 모래를 뒤집어쓴 보초 옆에 태연히 서 있었다.
The men were terrified at his sorcery. But there were two people who were smiling:
남자들은 소년의 마법에 공포를 느꼈다. 그러나 미소 짓고 있는 두 사람이 있었다.
the alchemist, because he had found his perfect disciple,
한 명은 완벽한 제자를 찾아낸 연금술사였고,
and the chief, because that disciple had understood the glory of God.
다른 한 명은 그 제자가 하나님의 영광을 이해했음을 확인한 지휘관이었다.
지휘관은 소년의 마법 그 자체보다 그가 보여준 신의 영광에 더 깊이 감명받은 모양입니다. 경외심을 가진 자만이 지을 수 있는 미소라고 할 수 있겠군요.
The following day, the general bade the boy and the alchemist farewell,

and provided them with an escort party to accompany them as far as they chose.
그리고 그들이 원하는 곳까지 동행할 수 있도록 호위병들을 붙여주었다.
They rode for the entire day. Toward the end of the afternoon, they came upon a Coptic monastery.
그들은 온종일 말을 달렸다. 늦은 오후가 되었을 무렵, 일행은 콥트교 수도원에 도착했다.
콥트교(Coptic)는 이집트에서 가장 오래된 기독교 종파 중 하나입니다. 광활한 사막 한가운데 수도원이 등장하며 장면이 전환됩니다.
The alchemist dismounted, and told the escorts they could return to the camp.
연금술사는 말에서 내린 뒤, 호위병들에게 이제 진영으로 돌아가도 좋다고 말했다.
“From here on, you will be alone,” the alchemist said. “You are only three hours from the Pyramids.”
“여기서부터는 너 혼자 가야 한다.” 연금술사가 말했다. “피라미드까지는 이제 세 시간 정도밖에 남지 않았단다.”
“Thank you,” said the boy. “You taught me the Language of the World.”
“감사합니다.” 소년이 말했다. “제게 ‘세상의 언어’를 가르쳐주셨어요.”
“I only invoked what you already knew.” The alchemist knocked on the gate of the monastery.
“나는 단지 네가 이미 알고 있던 것을 일깨워주었을 뿐이란다.” 연금술사는 수도원의 정문을 두드렸다.
