Cecil had ridden safely to the auditorium with his parents, hadn’t seen us,

then had ventured down this far because he knew good and well we’d be coming along.

He thought Mr. Finch’d be with us, though. “Shucks, ain’t much but around the corner,” said Jem. “Who’s scared to go around the corner?”
세실은 아빠도 우리와 함께 오실 줄 알았다고 했다. “치, 모퉁이 하나 도는 것뿐인데 뭐.” 젬 오빠가 말했다. “모퉁이 하나 도는 걸 누가 무서워한다고 그래?”
We had to admit that Cecil was pretty good, though. He had given us a fright, and he could tell it all over the schoolhouse, that was his privilege.

This was an excellent idea, Jem thought. He also thought it a good thing that Cecil and I would be together.
젬 오빠는 그것이 아주 좋은 생각이라고 생각했다. 또한 세실과 내가 함께 다니는 것이 다행이라고 생각했다.
This way, Jem would be left to go with people his own age.

When we reached the auditorium, the whole town was there except Atticus and the ladies worn out from decorating.
