“I’m sorry, Templeton,” she said, “but ‘Pre-shrunk’ is out of the question.”

“We want Zuckerman to think Wilbur is nicely filled out, not all shrunk up. I’ll have to ask you to try again.”
“우리는 저커먼 아저씨가 윌버를 포동포동하게 살이 잘 오른 돼지로 생각하길 바라지, 쪼글쪼글 줄어든 거로 생각하길 바라지 않거든. 한 번만 더 수고해 줘.”
“What do you think I am, a messenger boy?” grumbled the rat. “I’m not going to spend all my time chasing down to the dump after advertising material.”
“날 무슨 심부름꾼으로 아는 거야?” 쥐가 투덜거렸어요. “광고 문구나 찾으러 쓰레기장까지 왔다 갔다 하며 내 금쪽같은 시간을 다 뺏길 순 없다고.”
“Just once more—please!” said Charlotte. “I’ll tell you what I’ll do,” said Templeton.
“딱 한 번만 더, 부탁이야!” 샬롯이 말하자, “그럼 이렇게 하지.”라고 템플턴이 대답했어요.
“I know where there’s a package of soap flakes in the woodshed. It has writing on it. I’ll bring you a piece of the package.”
“나무 창고에 가루비누 상자가 있는 걸 알아. 거기 뭐라고 적혀 있더라고. 그 상자 조각을 가져다줄게.”
He climbed the rope that hung on the wall and disappeared through a hole in the ceiling.
템플턴은 벽에 걸린 밧줄을 타고 올라가 천장에 난 구멍 속으로 사라졌어요.
외양간 1층에서 천장 구멍을 통해 나무 창고(woodshed) 쪽으로 장소가 이동합니다.
When he came back he had a strip of blue-and-white cardboard in his teeth.

“There!” he said, triumphantly. “How’s that?” Charlotte read the words: “With New Radiant Action.”
“자!” 템플턴이 의기양양하게 말했어요. “이건 어때?” 샬롯은 그 글자를 읽어보았어요. “새로운 광채 작용 효과와 함께.”
Radiant는 광채가 나는 혹은 환하게 빛나는이라는 뜻입니다. 윌버가 단순한 가축을 넘어 신비로운 존재로 각인되길 바라는 샬롯의 전략적인 선택입니다.
“What does it mean?” asked Charlotte, who had never used any soap flakes in her life.
“이게 무슨 뜻이지?” 평생 가루비누를 써 본 적 없는 샬롯이 물었답니다.
자연 속에서 살아가는 샬롯에게 인간의 공산품인 가루비누 광고 문구는 매우 생소하고 이해하기 어려운 개념입니다.
“How should I know?” said Templeton. “You asked for words and I brought them.”

“I suppose the next thing you’ll want me to fetch is a dictionary.”

Together they studied the soap ad. “With new radiant action,” repeated Charlotte, slowly. “Wilbur!” she called.
