“Dennis Tibble worked over at Global. He was apparently some kind of genius.”

“But not genius enough to keep himself from getting killed.”
“하지만 살해당하는 것까지 막을 정도의 천재는 아니었나 보군.”
“He wasn’t just killed, Matt. He was slaughtered. You should have seen what someone did to his body.”
“그냥 죽은 게 아니야, 맷. 도살당한 거나 다름없어. 그놈 시신을 직접 봤어야 했는데.”
“It has to be some kind of maniac. Nothing to go on?”
“무슨 미치광이 소행이 틀림없겠군. 뭐 좀 단서가 될 만한 건 없어?”
“We aren’t sure what the murder weapon is, we’re waiting for results from the lab,”
“아직 살해 흉기가 뭔지는 확실치 않아. 실험실 결과가 나오길 기다리는 중인데,”
“but it may be a broken wine bottle. The maid threw it in the compactor.”
“깨진 와인병일 수도 있어. 청소부가 그걸 압축기에 넣고 갈아버렸거든.”
“It looks like there’s a fingerprint on one of the pieces of glass in his back.”
“희생자 등에 박힌 유리 조각 중 하나에 지문이 묻어 있는 것 같아.”
“I talked to the neighbors. No help there. No one saw anyone coming in or out of his apartment.”
“이웃들하고도 얘기해 봤는데 별 소득은 없었어. 아파트에 누가 드나드는 걸 본 사람이 아무도 없더라고.”
“No unusual noises. Apparently, Tibble stuck pretty much to himself. He wasn’t the neighborly type.”
“이상한 소음도 못 들었다고 하고. 티블은 워낙 혼자 지냈던 모양이야. 이웃들하고 어울리는 성격이 아니었대.”
“One thing. Tibble had sex before he died. We have vaginal traces, pubic hairs, other trace evidence,”
“한 가지 더. 티블은 죽기 전에 성관계를 했어. 질 내 분비물 흔적하고 음모, 그 외 다른 미량 증거물들을 확보했지.”
“and a cigarette stub with lipstick. We’ll test for DNA.”
“립스틱이 묻은 담배꽁초도 나왔고. DNA 검사를 의뢰할 거야.”
“The newspapers are going to have a good time with this one, Sam.”
