밤을 꼬박 새워서 만들었어. 패트릭도 나만큼 이 테이프가 마음에 들었으면 좋겠어. 특히 B면이 말이야.
I hope it’s the kind of second side that he can listen to whenever he drives alone and feel like he belongs to something whenever he’s sad.
패트릭이 혼자 운전할 때나 슬플 때마다 이 노래들을 들으면서, 어딘가에 소속되어 있다는 기분을 느낄 수 있었으면 좋겠어.
I hope it can be that for him. I had an amazing feeling when I finally held the tape in my hand.
그에게 그런 선물이 되기를 바라. 마침내 테이프를 완성해서 손에 쥐었을 때 정말 놀라운 기분이 들었어.
I just thought to myself that in the palm of my hand, there was this one tape that had all of these memories and feelings and great joy and sadness.
내 손바닥 안에 이 모든 기억과 감정, 커다란 기쁨과 슬픔이 담긴 테이프가 놓여 있다는 생각이 들었거든.
음악을 파일이 아닌 손에 잡히는 물체로 소유하고 선물했던 시대의 아날로그적인 감성이 찰리의 손바닥을 통해 따뜻하게 전달됩니다.
Right there in the palm of my hand. And I thought about how many people have loved those songs.
바로 내 손바닥 위에 말이야. 그리고 얼마나 많은 사람이 이 노래들을 사랑해 왔을까 생각했어.
And how many people got through a lot of bad times because of those songs. And how many people enjoyed good times with those songs.
얼마나 많은 사람이 이 노래들 덕분에 힘든 시간을 견뎌내고, 또 얼마나 많은 사람이 이 노래들과 함께 즐거운 시간을 보냈을지 말이야.
And how much those songs really mean. I think it would be great to have written one of those songs.
이 노래들이 정말 얼마나 큰 의미가 있는지 느껴졌어. 이런 노래 중 하나라도 직접 썼다면 정말 멋진 일이었을 거야.
I bet if I wrote one of them, I would be very proud. I hope the people who wrote those songs are happy.
내가 만약 그런 곡을 썼다면 정말 자랑스러웠을 거야. 이 노래들을 만든 사람들이 모두 행복했으면 좋겠어.
I hope that they feel it’s enough. I really do because they’ve made me happy. And I’m only one person.
