I didn’t know why they did that, but it was very special to me that they did. Especially Sam. Especially her.

I would tell you more about the homecoming dance, but now that I’m thinking about it, me letting out the air of Dave’s tires was the best part.
홈커밍 파티에 대해 더 들려주고 싶지만, 지금 생각해 보니 데이브의 타이어 바람을 뺀 게 최고의 순간이었던 것 같아.
앞서 홈커밍 파티 도중 데이브가 저지른 행동(ID 491-504)에 화가 난 찰리가 감행했던 소심하지만 확실한(?) 복수극을 말합니다. 찰리는 친구를 위한 자신만의 방식으로 정의를 구현했다는 사실에 꽤 뿌듯함을 느끼는 모양입니다.
I did try to dance like Bill suggested, but I usually like songs you can’t dance to, so I didn’t do it too much.
빌 선생님이 추천하신 대로 춤을 춰보려고는 했지만, 난 주로 춤추기 힘든 노래들을 좋아해서 많이 추지는 않았어.
Sam did look very pretty in her dress, but I was trying not to notice because I’m trying not to think of her that way.
드레스를 입은 샘은 정말 예뻤지만, 난 샘을 여자로 생각하지 않으려고 애쓰는 중이라 못 본 척하려고 노력했어.
I did notice that Brad and Patrick never talked once during the whole dance
파티 내내 브래드와 패트릭이 단 한 번도 대화하지 않는 게 눈에 띄었어.
because Brad was off dancing with a cheerleader named Nancy, who is his girlfriend.
브래드는 자기 여자친구인 낸시라는 치어리더랑 춤추느라 바빴거든.
And I did notice that my sister was dancing with the boy she wasn’t supposed to even though a different boy picked her up at the house.
그리고 우리 누나가 집까지 데리러 온 남자애를 놔두고, 그러면 안 되는 그 남자애랑 춤을 추고 있는 걸 봤어.
여기서 '그러면 안 되는 그 남자애'는 앞서 누나를 때렸던 전 남자친구를 말합니다. 아빠가 단호하게 금지했음에도 누나는 몰래 만남을 이어가고 있군요.
After the dance, we left in Sam’s pickup. Patrick was driving this time.
파티가 끝나고 우린 샘의 픽업트럭을 타고 떠났지. 이번에는 패트릭이 운전했어.
As we were approaching the Fort Pitt Tunnel, Sam asked Patrick to pull to the side of the road. I didn’t know what was going on.
포트 피트 터널에 가까워졌을 때, 샘이 패트릭에게 차를 길가에 세워달라고 하더라. 난 무슨 일이 일어나는 건지 몰랐어.
포트 피트 터널(Fort Pitt Tunnel)은 피츠버그 시내로 진입하는 관문과 같은 실제 장소입니다. 터널을 통과하는 순간 극적으로 펼쳐지는 도시 야경이 일품이죠.
Sam then climbed in the back of the pickup, wearing nothing but her dance dress.
그러더니 샘은 파티 드레스만 입은 차림으로 픽업트럭 뒷좌석 짐칸에 올라탔어.
She told Patrick to drive, and he got this smile on his face. I guess they had done this before.
샘이 패트릭에게 출발하라고 하자 패트릭의 얼굴에 미소가 번졌지. 전에도 이런 적이 있었나 봐.
Anyway, Patrick started driving really fast, and just before we got to the tunnel, Sam stood up, and the wind turned her dress into ocean waves.
어쨌든 패트릭은 정말 빠르게 달리기 시작했고, 터널에 들어가기 직전에 샘이 일어섰어. 바람 때문에 샘의 드레스가 마치 바다 물결처럼 출렁거렸지.
