I was expecting my brother to just talk and talk about himself for a long time.
난 형이 자기 자랑만 늘어놓으며 한참 동안 떠들 줄 알았거든.
He would do that whenever there was a big game in high school or the prom or something.
고등학교 때 큰 경기가 있었거나 졸업 파티 같은 일이 있을 때면 늘 그랬으니까.
But he seemed a lot more interested in what we were all doing, especially my sister with her graduation.
그런데 형은 우리 이야기에 훨씬 더 관심을 보였어. 특히 누나의 졸업식에 대해서 말이야.
So, while they were talking, I suddenly remembered the TV news sports man and what he said about my brother.

이 스포츠 기자는 앞서 패트릭을 따라갔던 공원(ID 2638)에서 찰리가 우연히 만나 대화를 나누었던 그 사람입니다.
I got so excited. And I told my whole family. And this is what happened as a result.
난 너무 신이 나서 온 가족에게 그 얘기를 해줬어. 그 결과 이런 상황이 벌어졌지.
My dad said, “Hey! How about that?!” My brother said, “Really!?” I said, “Yeah. I talked to him.”
아빠는 “야! 이거 정말 대단한데?!”라고 하셨고, 형은 “진짜?!”라며 놀랐어. 난 “네, 제가 그분이랑 직접 얘기해 봤거든요”라고 했지.
My brother said, “Did he say something good?” My father said, “Any press is good press.”
형이 “그 사람이 좋은 말 해줬어?”라고 묻자 아빠가 대꾸하셨어. “어떤 식으로든 언론에 나오는 건 무조건 좋은 법이지.”
I don’t know where my father learns these things. My brother kept going. “What did he say?”
우리 아빠는 그런 말들을 대체 어디서 배우시는 걸까. 형이 계속 물었어. “그래서 뭐라고 하셨는데?”
I said, “Well, I think he said that college sports puts a lot of pressure on the students who do them.”
난 대답했어. “음, 대학 스포츠가 선수인 학생들에게 엄청난 압박감을 준다고 하셨던 것 같아요.”
