There was a large pile of mail on his dining room table, where I found the letter very quickly.

I opened it and saw that it was addressed to Peter, so I asked him to read it. He refused.
편지를 열어보니 피터 앞으로 온 것이길래 그에게 읽어달라고 부탁했지만, 그는 거절했어요.
At this point, I became very angry, Hazel, but I did not yell at him.
그 시점에서 난 정말 화가 났지만, 헤이즐, 그에게 소리를 지르지는 않았어요.
Instead, I told him that he owed it to his dead daughter to read this letter from a dead boy,
대신 죽은 소년이 보낸 이 편지를 읽는 것이 죽은 딸에 대한 도리라고 말해 주었죠.
죽은 딸은 피터 반 하우텐이 소설 안나의 시기(An Imperial Affliction)를 쓰는 데 영감을 주었던 실제 그의 딸을 의미합니다.
and I gave him the letter and he read the entire thing and said—I quote him directly—
내가 편지를 건네자 그는 끝까지 다 읽고는 이렇게 말했어요. 그의 말을 그대로 옮겨보자면,
“Send it to the girl and tell her I have nothing to add.”
“그 아이에게 보내주게. 그리고 난 더 이상 덧붙일 말이 없다고 전해줘.”
I have not read the letter, although my eyes did fall on some phrases while scanning the pages.
